An aviation giant United States (AS), Boeingagreed to a last-minute settlement Monday (11/11) with the family of one of the victims of the 2019 737 MAX crash. This agreement exempts Boeing from a civil trial in US federal court.
There are three sources familiar with the matter, as reported AFPOn Tuesday (12/11/2024), an out-of-court settlement was agreed. However, details of the settlement agreement have not been made public.

The civil lawsuit originally involved six plaintiffs, but according to sources familiar with the litigation, all but one of them settled out of court to until now.
A hearing will be held on Tuesday (12/11) local time to inform Judge Jorge Alonso of the settlement agreement. Judge Alonso’s approval is required to formalize the agreed settlement.
The remaining lawsuit involves Manisha Nukavarapu, an Indian-born woman who was on board the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8, flight ET302, which crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa on March 10, 2019.
Attorneys representing the families of the victims who filed the lawsuit have not commented on this report.
Court documents said in June 2023 that the families of 115 victims filed a lawsuit against Boeing alleging wrongful death and negligence, among other allegations. The series of trials was scheduled between April 2019 and March 2021.
