Boeing 737 MAX is allowed to fly again in Europe

The Boeing 737 MAX, the aircraft that has been grounded after two fatal accidents since March 2019, is safe to fly. The CEO of the European aviation agency EASA said this on Friday.

By the end of the year, the Boeing 737 MAX should be able to fly again in Europe.

The 737 Max was Boeing’s best-selling aircraft, until the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, two aircraft crashed in quick succession, resulting in 346 deaths. These accidents were the result of errors in the software and the construction of the operating system, as a result of which the angle of climb of the aircraft was incorrectly estimated and the (over) correction ended in a fatal dive.

Since the second crash, in March 2019, all aircraft of that type have been grounded worldwide. The 737 Max was Boeing’s commercial blockbuster and the impact of the two crashes, and the flight ban, on the company was immense. Annual sales fell by about a quarter in 2019 to $ 76 billion. And Boeing plunged into the red for the first time since 1997. The total bill is estimated at $ 18 billion.
