Boehringer Ingelheim is building office buildings in Vienna for 100 million euros

The chemical company is building on a 4,500 square meter site. Workplaces for 990 people should be ready for occupancy from mid-2027.

The pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim is expanding its location in Vienna-Meidling with a new office building for around 990 employees. The office building will cost more than 100 million euros and will be ready for occupancy in mid-2027, the company announced on Thursday. Just last week, Boehringer Ingelheim opened a new cancer research center in Meidling.

The new office building will be built on a 4,500 square meter site on Altmannsdorfer Straße and Breitenfurter Straße, a five-minute walk from the main location. The campus in Vienna-Meidling currently offers space for over 3,500 employees; external office space is rented in the Twin Towers and Big Point.

“Clear commitment to Vienna as a location”

“This construction project is an important investment in the future for us and at the same time a clear commitment to Vienna as a location,” said the general director of Boehringer Ingelheim’s “Regional Center Vienna”, Pavol Dobrocky. “All business and administrative functions will be centralized in the new office building. External rental space can then be abandoned, while at the same time existing space becomes free for future investments in production and research.”

The plan is primarily to provide office space and a meeting area on seven upper floors, which will be available to all employees at the location. In addition to more than 18,000 square meters of usable space, there are almost 3,000 square meters of terrace space and green space. Sustainability is a top priority in new construction, for example through the use of heat pumps, photovoltaics on roofs and in the facade, electric charging stations in the garage or the use of “green” concrete, the production of which releases less CO2.
