The civil association BOEC filed a complaint for the complete cancellation of the elections. It was sent electronically to the bodies that can appeal to constitutional judges – the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers, the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Supreme Administrative Court. It will be delivered on paper to the chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov and to the president Rumen Radev, announced the association, which held several protests in the Triangle of Power with a request to cancel the vote due to election violations.
“We insist that each of these six bodies independently refer to the Constitutional Court, which will carry out a thorough review of the election results,” the petitioners said.
In their appeal, they dispute the legality of the election result for the composition of the 51st National Assembly “due to the presence of numerous serious electoral violations, which led to violations of the active and passive electoral rights of each of us, as well as of thousands of other Bulgarian citizens with electoral rights “.
According to BOEC, the manipulation of the election results leads to the fact that the people announced as elected are not actually elected by the people and do not represent their interests, but serve illegitimate purposes.
“And as a final result, it leads to the usurpation of the exercise of popular sovereignty by individuals and organizations, which is prohibited,” the complaint said.
“The presence of a huge amount of evidence and data on election violations gives rise to reasonable doubts among the vast majority of citizens and political subjects in the legitimacy of the “elected” composition of the National Assembly, which in turn delegitimizes the future decisions of this legislative body, which is why the execution of a thorough and complete verification of the election results by the Constitutional Court is absolutely imperative,” argue the petitioners.
“For its part, the Constitutional Court is empowered to carry out an additional, independent and in-depth review of the electoral process and election results, by collecting written evidence, including classified information representing state or official secrets, as well as to commission the preparation of expert conclusions”, state FIGHTER.
Refusal of the competent authorities to refer to the SC would constitute an abdication of their constitutionally established powers and lead to an exacerbation of the political crisis
and deepening citizens’ mistrust in state institutions, the association also states.
At least two parliamentary groups are preparing to count the vote – those of PP-DB and “There is such a people”, their leaders announced. Both Slavi Trifonov and Asen Vasilev stated that they are ready to collect the necessary 48 MP signatures.
MECH also declared for the annulment of the vote, but in full and not in part, as ITN called for. The party reminded that they were the first to come out with this appeal – as early as October 31, and that they will initiate a signature to the Central Committee. Radostin Vassilev’s formation accused his former party “There is such a people” for asking for a partial cancellation, so that GERB and “DPS – New Beginning” would not be affected. “Do you know why the ITN leader wants a partial cancellation of the election a few days later? The partial cashing of Slavi Trifonov would eventually lead to his entry into the National Assembly of VELICHIE, but it would not affect Peevski’s GERB and DPS, with which he apparently works wonderfully,” Vassilev attacks.
Velichie, for their part, who were left out of parliament due to a result of 3.999%, also demanded the annulment of the election, as BNT reports showed with video and minutes that their votes were also taken away.
Precisely because of the scribbling on ballots and the violation of the rules during the opening of the ballot boxes, shown in the media, the CEC is meeting today for an emergency meeting dedicated to the violations.
Meanwhile, representatives of a civil initiative for the non-recognition of the election results called for the cancellation of the early elections held on October 27. They expect everyone who has the right under the Constitution to appeal to the Constitutional Court (CC).
“It is good news that President Radev has given an indication in this direction,” commented Slavchev. He hopes that the head of state will continue further and address the CC.
