Illia Golem, known as ‘The Mutant’, has died at the age of 36. The cause of death is currently unknown, but some hypotheses suggest that he may have been another victim of synthol, anabolic steroids or an excessive daily calorie intake. The bodybuilder, who was not a professional, was 1.85 metres tall and weighed 165 kilos.
This is not the first death in the world of bodybuilders this year. Matheus Pavlak, Cintia Goldani and Antonio Leso Bras de Souza are some of those who have also passed away at very early ages. “The problem is that nobody wants to make an apology that it is the substances that have caused this. At the moment, the reason why these bodybuilders are dying lately is very hidden on the networks and they downplay the matter,” explained the natural bodybuilder, Jorge Gómez, to ElDesmarque.
Illia Golem himself claimed that his lifestyle was not healthy. On his social networks he openly said that he was “risking his life.” “50 units of insulin.” He even injected himself to be able to eat huge amounts of food very often. This practice allowed him to increase muscle mass and strength more quickly. He consumed up to 16,500 calories a day. A high percentage of these consisted of proteins, which if consumed in excess “can cause kidney and liver failure,” according to Gómez.
