The body of a drowning man was removed from the Vaart in Leuven on Thursday morning. This reports Het Laatste Nieuws and the news is confirmed by the local police.

Passers-by noticed the body around 7:10 a.m. near the Marie Thumas Durieux Bridge and notified emergency services. A firefighters rescued the body from the water. Attempts were made to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful.
The Leuven public prosecutor’s office has been informed and has sent the judicial lab and a medical doctor on site for an investigation.
