The body that rescuers on Curaçao have found, indeed belongs to the 45-year-old man from Leiden who has been searched for since Wednesday. Police, fire brigade and defense found the body south of the mountain Seru Bientu in Christoffel Park. The man’s body has been transferred to the country’s laboratory for further examination.

The Dutch tourist went for a walk in the northwestern part of the island on Tuesday. But the man did not return and the alarm was raised. After he went missing, there were concerns because he only had a liter of water with him, in an area where it is difficult to orientate without a GPS or compass.

Emergency services searched for the man with a helicopter and drones, among other things.
