“Body of Missing 7-Year-Old Boy Found Two Weeks Later While Fishing in Ohio”

However, last Saturday a passerby found the body of a child in the Great Miami River in downtown Daytonaccording to a joint communiqué of the Dayton Police and Fire Departments. Crews responded to the scene and pulled the body from the water, authorities said.

“Our hearts go out to the Lucas family at this time of tragedy, and the City of Dayton collectively mourns the loss of this precious young life,” the statement said.

Rosales “was a vibrant and beloved child” who had an “infectious” laugh and a “bright smile,” according to a report. obituary published by his family.

“The loss of such a young life is a tragedy that no family or community should have to bear,” the obituary reads.

Although the police do not suspect a crime, it is unknown why the 7-year-old ended up in the water.

Rosales’ sister, Da’Najiah Wakefield, previously told WHIO, CBS affiliatethat she and his father warned the boy not to get too close to the water before he left to join other family members.

Rosales’ body was found shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, Dayton police and fire officials said Tuesday.
