Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A person’s body that emits an unpleasant odor is generally produced due to several things. Among them are rarely taking a shower, to smell due to strenuous activities such as exercising to excessive sweating.
However, did you know that body odor can also be caused by a body experiencing high blood sugar levels?
High blood sugar itself usually occurs in someone with diabetes where the sufferer’s body cannot respond to insulin, or cannot produce sufficient amounts to take blood sugar.
Reported from Medical News Todaybody odor can indeed be a sign of diabetes in some people.
Even so, there is a difference between normal body odor and odors that may be a sign of illness. This is indicated by how strong the smell is produced when someone sweats.
The Harley Health Center explains that blood sugar that is too high causes ketoacidosis. This condition refers to the production of blood acids known as ketones. This occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin. At this stage, body odor often occurs and may be disturbing to yourself and those around you.
“If blood sugar is not well controlled, a person experiences something called ketoacidosis, which results in not only a strange body odor like rotten fruit, but also a ‘typical’ body odor,” he was quoted as saying Friday (17/2/2023).
Basically, body odor due to diabetes can also be avoided by keeping your body clean, using deodorant, and occasionally bathing with antibacterial soap.
Some internal organ health problems can also be characterized by bad body odor. This body odor is likely due to serious conditions such as liver and kidney disease.
“With liver and kidney disease, people can experience body odor and bad breath,” says Stagg.
