NEW YORK — A 38-year-old homeless man has been arrested in connection to the stabbing death of a 51-year-old Queens man whose body was found on a sidewalk just blocks from NY Penn Station over the weekend. , authorities said Tuesday.
Vincent Cole was handcuffed Monday night on a single count of second-degree murder in the death of Esan Benn. Two NYPD Detective Bureau sources say he was seen wearing clothing similar to the suspect’s on a wanted flyer and that he, too, had a similar bag.
A sharp object was recovered from Cole, the sources said, though it remains unclear if the object was the one used to stab Benn, who was found about 5:30 a.m. Sunday on the sidewalk near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Benn was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It was there that medical personnel determined that he had been stabbed.
It was not immediately clear if Cole had an attorney.
