The police have found a body in a canal in Groningen. It is being investigated whether it is the 25-year-old man who has been missing since Saturday.
The body was found this afternoon in the Van Starkenborgh Canal. The police arrive late RTV North know that investigations are currently underway to determine the identity of the victim. No further information could yet be provided.
Searched several times
The search has been going on in Groningen for several days for the missing Thomas van Zeewijk Vink. The 25-year-old man left for home from the center of Groningen on the night of Friday to Saturday. Since then there has been no trace of him.
The police, fire brigade and volunteers from SAR (Search and Rescue team) searched for the man in various places. Dogs, divers, helicopters and drones were also used in the searches. Came to the police lots of tips inside about the disappearance.
Today another search was conducted in the water along the suspected route taken by the man. According to the police, he left work at the Kattenhage. He was then last seen around 1:30 am in the vicinity of the UMCG hospital. The police assume that the man then went towards the area of the Van Starkenborgh Canal.
