A crew member of a fishing cutter from Yerseke ended up this morning in the water of the Dortsman at about ten o’clock – the fairway along the southwest coast of Tholen, between Stavenisse and Sint-Maartensdijk. A major search with boats from Rijkswaterstaat, KNRM, police and fire brigade immediately started. The Coast Guard also deployed a helicopter.

The rescue operation ended without result at around half past two. The police then assumed a salvage action and deployed the National Underwater Search Team (LTOZ). He found a body tonight. It is now being investigated whether it is indeed the missing fisherman.
