A body was spotted floating yesterday in the Hudson River that divides New York from New Jersey, NYPD reported.
The body was found floating near the 134th Street West in Upper Manhattanreported Pix11. Emergency services, including police and medical staff, rushed to the scene to remove the body from the water.
The victim has not been identified, not even by age or gender. The medical examiner must determine how the person died and how long it was in the water. The discovery of bodies in public places is common in New York and sometimes it takes time to identify the victims. At the end of January, human skeletal remains were found at a construction site in Queens (NYC).
In December a man was found dead near a playground in Central Park with cuts and wounds on the neck and torso. Also that month a male body was found floating in the water in Paerdegat Basin in Brooklyn (NYC) in broad daylight.
Previously a man was found dead in the brush on a road in The Bronx. Then a 20-year-old man died after collapsing in the front yard of a single-family home in Queens (NYC) and residents said they have no idea who it was.
In late November a young man and woman were found dead within hours of each other in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
In the middle of that month, a body without a head or arms was found in the sand of a beach in the Rockaways neighborhood. It was the third body found in a public area in Queens in less than a week.
At the end of October an adult human body was found inside a garbage bag on a street in The Bronx (NYC). In September, a body with larvae was found in the parking lot of a TD Bank branch in Queens (NYC). In the summer a body was found floating in a lake in the northern area of Central Park.
