NEW YORK — Police are investigating after a body was discovered Monday at a playground in Central Park.
Investigators said a man was found dead around 8:35 a.m. inside Heckscher Playground near Central Park South and 62nd Street.
“EMS and police personnel were called to the scene,” an NYPD official said. “Our detectives are currently conducting a thorough investigation seeking possible witnesses and viewing video cameras as we continue to investigate this case.”
Police officials said the man had numerous injuries on his stomach, chest and neck.
They said their preliminary investigation indicates the wounds may have been self inflicted.
The incident remains under investigation.
