Bodø municipality reports five new cases of infection on Monday.
–
They stated this in the press conference which started at 12.00. You can watch the broadcast from City Hall in the video window at the top of the case.
There are thus five new cases of infection in Bodø in the last 24 hours. Four of these are close contacts and one is unclear, but infection detection is taking place.
There are now 90 people in Bodø in isolation and 300 are in quarantine.
– We are in the middle of a big outbreak. It is the largest that has been in Bodø since the pandemic started. I think we have a better overview now, but the situation is serious. We also do not have enough observation time to say anything about whether the measures have had any effect, says infection control chief physician Kai Brynjar Hagen.
Municipal chief physician Tor Claudi says that the figures are now stable, but it is not sufficient to gain control. He also emphasizes that the infection in Bodø is mainly about the South African variant. He also points out that it is also likely to be transmitted more easily and faster than the original variant. In addition, they have indications that it may cause a somewhat more serious illness.
– This means that one must again be more careful about limiting social contact, says Claudi.
Kai Brynjar Hagen says that infection tracing is an extremely complicated task.
– Only a few new positive cases do an enormous amount of work, he points out.
This also makes it difficult to find out where the infection comes from and where it is transmitted. That is why many are also in quarantine.
– I think it is very important that everyone, even the few latecomers who have not received the infection control rules, now take this very seriously. We have seen examples of a person being able to infect quite a few. It is something that is known from the pandemic, that 80 percent do the right things, but a few get hurt for infecting quite others. A few have to take things much more seriously, says Hagen.
On Saturday, ten new cases of infection were registered in Bodø. Nine of these are close contacts who were in quarantine at the time of infection. The latter has a currently unknown route of transmission.
On Sunday, four new cases were registered. Two of these are close contacts, and the last two have an unknown route of transmission.
– The infection tracking is in full swing, said infection control doctor Kai Brynjar Hagen in a message from the municipality.
