Bodø / Glimt has recently been in negotiations with Willem II about a transfer for the goalkeeper. In recent days, the clubs are approaching a breakthrough.
The online newspaper is informed that Smits has not trained with Bodø / Glimt in recent days. He was also not in Wednesday’s cup match against Harstad.
On Thursday, according to what Nettavisen and AN know, he has set course for the Netherlands pending the clubs to agree and that the transition can be completed.
Bodø / Glimt’s player manager Håvard Sakariassen did not respond to Nettavisen’s inquiries on Friday.
The Dutch goalkeeper was brought to Glimt in June 2020 from Almere City. Since then, he has been the second choice behind Nikita Haikin. In total, Smits has played 12 games for the club.
First goalkeeper Nikita Haikin can also disappear from Bodø / Glimt either this summer or after the season. The Russian is on an outgoing contract and has not signed a new agreement with the reigning league champion.
Bodø / Glimt has therefore started the work of identifying a replacement in the goalkeeper position. The Aspmyra club has recently shown concrete interest in Odd goalkeeper Leopold Wahlstedt, according to Nettavisen’s information. According to Telemarksavisa, the club has also had a bid rejected for the Swedish last chance.
