Matthieu Bodmer, former midfielder (2010-2013) and lover of Paris Saint-Germain, returned to So Foot for his passion for PSG, he who subscribes to the Parc des Princes, before deciphering a little his career and what made his ups and downs. He calls himself an irregular player, but has no regrets.

“Do you ever go back to the Parc des Princes?
I have my Auteuil subscription, but there is no match. (Laughs.) I’m on the second floor. TF1 wanted to film me for Barça-PSG, I told them: “Impossible. When I am in the stands, I am unbearable, I am able to fight. My wife, when it’s PSG, either she doesn’t stay or she doesn’t talk to me. It’s like that. When Paris lost 6-1, the remorada, I was in Guingamp, I did not speak and not sleep for two days. I was in worse shape than if my team lost. This is the worst. ”
It always feels good to feel the passion in a player when he talks about his former club. Bodmer is a subscriber to the Parc des Princes and seems to live the matches with intensity, like a PSG supporter. His story on the remorada shows that he was a passionate person from the start, he had the club in his skin. This shows that emotions, as supporters, are not just for the public. Former players like him remain passionate despite their careers. Bodmer had the chance to play for his club at heart, it must have been a culmination even if in the end it did not leave an imperishable mark.

Was your strongest period at PSG?
Bodmer: “No, I would not say the loudest, the word is not good. It’s a bit presumptuous. There were times when I was very good, whether in Lille, Lyon or Paris, and times when I was less good, even in Nice. I was a bit irregular as a player.
How do you explain it?
I don’t explain it. It was me. Even in a game, I could be very good at one point, get out of the game right after, come back. Being very very good one weekend, and the next very bad. This is what made my career too. Overall, I had more good matches than bad. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made so many good clubs. After, the reasons, we can talk about it for 100 years (…) In Paris, it was less the case, I managed to tell myself that it was necessary to do simple things, sometimes to ensure to make a correct match. But you learn that with age and experience. ”
Bodmer is a player who had an interesting, technical, tall profile with certain qualities to do great things on the pitch. But he didn’t have a great career. Upset by injuries, but also by his irregularity that he does not hesitate to address himself, he still achieved a lot of beautiful things. He went through big clubs, proof that his career is not trivial. If he’s not hiding, he can’t explain it to himself, that’s how it is. Sometimes you don’t have to look any further, not everyone has the ambition of Cristiano Ronaldo or Kylian Mbappé (22-year-old PSG striker) and sometimes, Bodmer in fact, there are players who remain good players without ever really passing a milestone. The football career is sometimes difficult and Bodmer seems to be this player who played for passion, he had an honorable career, this is the essential for him.
