Bodily harm and threats: A fight escalated at the Leer Christmas market

A dispute broke out between the owner of a mulled wine stall and a 55-year-old from Haren at the Leer Christmas market on Saturday. One of the two was injured.

Leer – On Saturday at the Christmas market in Leer there was a fight between a 19-year-old owner of a mulled wine stand and a man from Haren, in which he was slightly injured. The two men, police said, had initially argued. In the ensuing scuffle, 55-year-old Harener was slightly injured. As the fight progressed, the man threatened the 19-year-old.

A 39-year-old witness to the incident stopped officials’ investigation into the facts and was therefore deported. When he refused to comply, he was briefly taken into custody. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 19 and 55-year-olds for bodily harm and threats.
