The bodies found in a resort in the Mexican Pacific correspond to two Australian surfers and one American reported missing, as identified by their relatives, the Prosecutor’s Office of the state of Baja California, in northwest Mexico, reported this Sunday (05/05/2024).
“The Prosecutor’s Office confirms that the bodies found in the well in the area known as La Bocana, south of Ensenada, correspond to those named Jake and Callum (Robinson), of Australian origin, as well as the American (Jack) Carter,” detailed a statement from the agency.
“The confirmation is given once the victims’ relatives were able to identify them, without the need for genetic tests to be carried out,” the document indicates.
Previously, the Mexican authorities indicated that the homicide of the three foreign surfers in Baja California was due to the alleged theft of a vehicle in which they were traveling and that the bodies had “a gunshot hole in the head.”
According to the hypothesis of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Baja California, shared at a press conference, the two Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and the American Jack Carter Road would have opposed the robbery, which would have cost them their lives.
The crime was “due to car theft”
The preliminary conclusions of the state prosecutor, María Elena Andrade, indicate that the alleged criminals wanted to get rid of the bodies by throwing them into a well, where four bodies were located, of which three are presumed to correspond to foreigners.
«Seeing that what was originally a robbery got out of control, they try to get rid of the bodies by throwing them into this well, a distance between six and seven kilometers from the place of the first discovery. This is what happened. It was not an attack as tourists. It was in the capacity of stealing a vehicle. Surely they did not know the origin of these people,” Andrade said at his appearance.
The prosecutor added that “they all have a gunshot wound to the head.”
It was the afternoon of Friday, May 3, when the authorities proceeded to rescue the bodies, after they were able to establish a place where they warned the bodies of the three foreigners could be.
Likewise, Mexican authorities reported the identification of at least three people who could be related to this incident, two men and a woman, all detained for drug possession, while an arrest warrant was issued against Jesús Gerardo, alias ‘El kekas’ for the crime of forced disappearance.
