“My father’s death is still unclear.” Bockie was 24 years old at the time. “I really didn’t mind that at the time, even if that’s super rude to say. And then suddenly there was the legacy. “He sold his house a week before he died,” Bockie tells Jani after a tough mountain hike. “I was 24 years old, I was in the rock and roll phase of my life, I was going through puberty and I got 50,000 euros in my account. Not normal. I’ve done it all, without any regrets. What’s worse and what we didn’t realize at the time: my mom never got a cent from that.”
When Jani and Otto-Jan pop into a local cocktail bar, it becomes clear that Bockie’s nightlife is often very rock and roll: “I don’t drink during the week. I also only drink when I can, when I’m happy. But if I can, I do drink a lot. One night I drink five or six bottles of wine. I’m not the type to leave for one. Somewhere in my youth or in my life it came to me that I can’t stop until I black-out go. I just love being drunk. People think I’m going to drink myself to death, but it’s actually mainly about the food. Way too greasy.”
