Bochum. The Bochum footballers are playing in the association league after promotion. The influx of new players continues unabated.
When the Bochum Rebels head to their away games at the end of April, things could get tight on the team bus. After promotion to the association league, the American football players have once again grown significantly. In terms of breadth and quantity, they are already up to the task in the fifth highest German league. As much as this is an accolade for the good work of the past two years, it does bring challenges.
The coaching team around head coach Christoph Jeromin has to show tact. Whoever is in the matchday squad is allowed to play the five home and away games on the pitch. “We can draw on everything,” he says. This situation is not at all inconvenient. However, it is not a difficult task to sift out – in harsh words. “This is already evident during training. “How someone is, how often they’ve been there,” says Jeromin.
Determining the location for Bochum Rebels is still a long way away
Before these decisions have to be made, the players and coaches of the Bochum Rebels still have a good two months of intensive work ahead of them. The start of the season preparation was a scrimmage against GFL2 relegated Solingen Paladines last Sunday. Both were unable to play their best lineups due to colds. “It didn’t go that badly,” says Jeromin. The Rebels are still a long way from determining their position anyway.

As in the previous season, this only occurs in the first league game. This will take place on April 27th, 3 p.m. at Schultenhof against the Lippstadt Eagles. In addition to the Rheine Raptors and the Siegen Sentinels, the Bochum team are particularly looking forward to two duels. With the Recklinghausen Chargers and the Gelsenkirchen Devils, there are a total of four Ruhrpott derbies on the schedule.

Westfalen Bowl on March 23rd in Dortmund offers a lot of insights
Bochum’s schedule up until the start of the season is relatively manageable. A mini-camp, an internal team event and the Westfalen Bowl have been registered so far. At the Dortmund Giants’ Westfalen Bowl on March 23rd, the Rebels will face the Troisdorf Jets, the Badener Greifs and the hosts. “We can learn a lot in a short amount of time in one day. It’s a good method,” says Jeromin. The schedule and organization would not have allowed for other friendly games or scrimmages.
Nevertheless, the coaches of the Bochum Rebels should be able to get a good first impression from these few dates as to who deserves a place in the squad for the first home game of the new season and who still needs to work on themselves a little.
