Former Independiente player Alan Velasco will remain in MLS after Dallas failed to reach an agreement with Boca in their last negotiation, which was close to the amount requested by the American club for 80% of the player’s transfer.
The “Xeneize” offered 7.5 million (8 million was what the “Cowboys” asked for) for that percentage of the player, but the response was still insufficient for the North American team. This was a big surprise for Boca, since it had everything agreed with the player so that he could wear the blue and gold shirt.
In a press conference given to various media outlets, president Juan Román Riquelme stated that he was satisfied with the six current reinforcements, but that they will continue to be attentive to the possibility of adding new players after the transfer market was extended until September 6.
Even so, if the player is from abroad, they will have until Thursday at 8:00 p.m. to register him with the TMS.
“Velasco is a great football player and I like all those who play well, I would like to have them all here. Until the last day of the transfer window we will always look and, if we have the chance, we will try. Whether with him or with another player as well,” he commented.
He concluded by saying: “We are very happy with the market we made. Because the boys from the Council closed six reinforcements (Gary Medel, Tomás Belmonte, Ignacio Miramón, Brian Aguirre, Agustín Martegani and Milton Giménez). It is not easy to close six reinforcements in sixty days.”
This made the idea of adding Velasco impossible, at least in this transfer market, and the idea of including him in the list of potential candidates for a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana was discarded.
