Diego Martínez’s cycle as coach of Boca Juniors will officially begin on Tuesday. The players are scheduled to appear at the club’s property in Ezeiza with the aim of starting the preseason in view of the multiple objectives they will face in 2024.

“The new Xeneize coach, Diego Martínez, is preparing to start the preseason with his collaborators at Boca Predio,” the official account of the X club (formerly Twitter) wrote this Monday.
In the image he published, the coach is seen already on one of the fields with his collaborators. The coaching staff will be made up of field assistants Cristian Bardaro, Adrián González and Gustavo Rodríguez; the physical trainers Juan Manuel Conte and Leandro Mazziotti; coaching Patricio Ciavarella; goalkeeping coaches Pablo Campodónico and Fernando Gayoso; and the video analyst Omar Mateo.
On the first day the footballers will undergo medical studies and on Wednesday work on the field will begin. The preseason will last 12 days and, during that period, the team members will stay in a hotel near the venue.

It is expected that Diego Martínez’s official presentation to the press will be made on Tuesday afternoon. In 2024 the coach will face the two Professional League tournaments, the Copa Sudamericana and the Argentine Cup.
Boca’s casualties
Among those who will appear this Tuesday will not be Diego “Pulpito” González or Facundo Roncaglia. Their contracts ended on December 31 and the club decided not to renew them.
The returns
There are 18 footballers who must return to Boca after being on loan to different teams. Many of them will not be taken into account and a way out will be sought again.
Among the most notable names are those of Aaron Molinas and Agustín Obando, who return from Tigre and who could be approved by Martínez, who already directed them both in the Victoria team.
Renzo Giampaoli, defender who was in Quilmes; Maximiliano Zalazar, from Platense; and Gonzalo Maroni, midfielder who went to San Lorenzo, will also have to return to the club.
The possible reinforcements
In the last few hours, reports have grown about a possible rapprochement with Cristian Lema, a 33-year-old defender who ended his contract with Lanús and who rejected an offer from Peñarol of Uruguay.

In Boca they are also waiting for Éver Banega, who is in Punta del Este on vacation after having finished his commitments with Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia.
The midfielder has already agreed everything verbally with Xeneize, but he has a current contract with the Asian team until the middle of the year, which is why his departure should require negotiation.
