The Genoese chose Sweden. The Boca Juniors celebrates 119 years since its foundation by remembering its history with a shirt produced for the occasion by the technical sponsor Adidas. The Xeneizes, the Genoese in fact, gave life to the club in the popular barrio of La Boca. When it came to choosing the club colors, the president, Juan Rafael Brichetto, decided that they would be those of the flag flown by the first ship that entered the port of Buenos Aires the next morning. There are still disputes about the name of that ship – Oskar II, Drottning Sophia or Prinsessan Ingeborg – but not about her nationality: she was Swedish and for this reason the social colors were blue and yellow. This is the reason for the third shirt launched by the club, with the motif of the cross of the flag that flies above the Parliament building in Stockholm.
Boca Juniors, the change of sponsor that brings us closer to traditions
On the shirt, the name of the club’s main sponsor, Betsson, is prominently displayed: a partnership that began in June 2023, which will bring into the club’s coffers Boca over seven and a half million dollars until the end of this season, with a tie that could be extended until 2026. Betsson, which took over from Qatar Airways, is one of the most famous betting companies in the world. And it was founded in 1963 in Sweden and, therefore, the reference to its origins becomes even more intense.

Boca and Adidas launched the third shirt with a video that portrays the first newborn on April 3, Camilo, receiving the shirt from his mother and father boquense t-shirt and the club membership card. The message is clear: you don’t become Boca, you are born.
