The former central mayor of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, Bourahima Sanou, is allegedly involved in a case of illicit enrichment, abuse of office, money laundering and acceptance of undue gifts.
In actual fact, this is a matter of public ordering relating to the purchase of spare parts. In this case, Bourahima Sanou, former mayor of the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso at the time of the events, placed the order for spare parts for the repair of vehicles in the municipality with Amadé Zongo, a merchant.
All in all, it turns out that the mayor would receive gifts of several kinds in return for the signing of said contracts, hence the offense of accepting undue gifts. Besides that, Bourahima Sanou intentionally abused his position as mayor to enrich himself on the basis of the money he received from the award of public contracts. This implicates him in other offenses such as abuse of office, illicit enrichment and money laundering.
The merchant Amadé Zongo, in turn, is being prosecuted for having committed acts of corruption in the context of the ordering of spare parts by the municipality. Worse, he was making fake receipts which led to the forgery offense. In order to see clearly in the management of the former mayor of Bobo-Dioulasso, Everything would have started from a control mission of a team from the Higher Authority for State Control and the Fight against Corruption ( ASCE-LC) at the central town hall in early May 2023. At the end of the investigations, the former mayor Bourahima Sanou and three other people will be arrested.
First held in custody at the Regional Judicial Police Service (SR / PJ), the defendants were brought before the prosecutor of Faso at the TGI of Bobo-Dioulasso, this Monday, May 29, 2023, to be heard. After more than 6 hours of hearing, the ex-mayor and the merchant Amadé Zongo will no longer return to their homes. They were placed under a warrant by the prosecution the same day around 6 p.m. For the moment, the procedure is following its course and more details to come in our next editions.
