Bobo-Dioulasso: The end of year gift from the Head of State to the green brigade

The women of the green brigade of Bobo-Dioulasso received, Friday December 22, 2023, a donation of food from the Presidency of Faso. The symbolic handover ceremony took place at the town’s roads in the presence of members of the special delegation.

It is a donation made up of five tons of corn and five tons of rice. Added to this is a ton of cooking salt offered by an individual. This is the vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, Seydou. Traoré on behalf of the first official of the commune who chaired the ceremony of handing over these donations on the eve of the Christmas holiday. The initiative is part of the presidential initiative and aims, in the opinion of the Vice-President of the special delegation of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, to encourage and congratulate the women of the brigade green for the sanitation work they carry out to make the city of Bobo-Dioulasso clean. The Bobo-Dioulasso green brigade was created in 1998 and currently has at least 1,000 women who take care of the city’s sanitation. With this gesture, the president of the transition, Ibrahim Traoré, intends to express his satisfaction and solidarity with these women who fight daily for the cleanliness of the city of Sya. “We are very delighted because the head of state thought of the green brigade. In other words, he thought of his mothers, his sisters and his wives. He decided to give them food on the eve of the holidays. I think it is a sign of solidarity but also of resilience. Because these women fight every morning to keep our city clean. They also pray for our FDS and VDP so that they can have the courage and the will to defend the country», said Mr Traoré. The beneficiaries did not hide their joy after receiving this food. “We thank the initiator of the donation and pray to God every day for the president and our children who are at the front. May peace return to Burkina Faso. Our hope is that the initiative can continue to provide relief to women, many of whom have difficulty making ends meet.», testifies Bibata Sanou, site supervisor and head of women in the Bobo green brigade.
