Bob Van Staeyen, singer and guitarist with the legendary Antwerp group De Strangers, has passed away. He was 84 years old.

Van Staeyen had been a member of the Antwerp folk group De Strangers since 1964, when he replaced the original member Gust Torfs. The Strangers are known for songs like Cross-eyed Vanderlinden, Oh My Blue Checkered in At the Gendarmerie.
Van Staeyen also had some small TV roles, including in the VTM series Benidorm in Zone City. He was married and had a daughter.
