In the midst of an internal crisis, the entertainment company, Disney, re-elected Bob Iger as the organization’s top leader, above other shareholders.
Among the personalities who expressed their support for Iger were George Lucas and the heirs of Walt Disney, who considered that the current direction is the right one for the Mouse House.
Both Peltz and Disney’s former financial director, Jay Resulo, led the initiative to insert themselves into power, trying, in their words, to bring order to the upper echelons.

The internal fights come about the results of what they consider “woke” policies. Candidate Peltz has, in the past, criticized films like Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
“Why do I have to make a Marvel movie that is exclusively about women?” Peltz asked herself in an interview that went viral in recent weeks. “Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-black cast?”
Iger’s postures
During Disney’s 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Bob Iger addressed a question about whether Disney is staying out of politics, saying the company is not willing to “advance any kind of agenda” but is instead focused on the entertainment.
“Our job is to entertain first and foremost, and by telling great stories, we continue to have a positive impact on the world and inspire future generations, just as we have for over 100 years. Disney has always been and will continue to be a source of hope, joy and optimism for people of all ages. “We are committed to telling stories that reflect the world around us and using those stories to entertain people from all walks of life,” he said.
What convinced the board was Iger’s cost-cutting policy, as well as his commitment to better stories for film and television.
