Bob Dylan charged with abusing 12-year-old girl

Singer Bob Dylan is accused of sexually abusing a teenager. The facts happened in 1965 but the woman – now 68 – went to court under the ‘Child Victims Act’, which means that child abuse is no longer a statute of limitations.

The woman is not known by name. The complaint only contains her initials JC The woman speaks of facts that occurred repeatedly in the spring of 1965, when she was barely 12 years old herself.

The singer is said to have used his stardom to gain her trust. He is said to have built up an emotional bond with her and then administer alcohol and drugs and abuse her. “He built a bond to lower her inhibitions. He threatened physical assault, gave her alcohol and drugs and ended up sexually abusing her multiple times,” the complaint reads before the Supreme Court in Manhattan, New York.

The facts lasted about six weeks and regularly took place in the famous Chelsea Hotel. The woman has been in therapy for some time to process the trauma.

The lawyers of the now 81-year-old singer strongly deny the allegations.

Strikingly, the complaint against Dylan was filed just at the last minute. Since 2019, the statute of limitations for facts surrounding child abuse has been lifted, victims could still file a complaint until last Friday if they wished.
