Boat with tourists involved in fatal accident on Lake Como in Italy | Abroad

It is possible that the driver of the boat, a young woman, of the 7 meter long speedboat with 11 tourists from Belgium on board, did not notice the speedboat or only noticed it much too late. It cannot be ruled out that she was blinded by the sun. It is not yet clear whether the young woman is also Belgian.

According to witnesses, the speedboat passed over the other boat. The victim was fatally shot, the other two people on board fell into the water when their boat capsized. They were rescued by the fire brigade.

It is unclear whether the Belgians were water skiing at the time of the accident. The boat was equipped for that. The research is carried out by the Carabinieri of Menaggio. The young people involved were also given an alcohol test. It is not yet known whether they were under the influence of alcohol.
