A boat with 20 people on board that left from the Bahamas on Monday has been missing for days. There is a fear for the lives of those on board.
The 30-foot boat departed from the Bimini archipelago that is part of the Bahamas and was scheduled to arrive in Lake Worth, Florida on Tuesday. But the boat never got there.
The US Coast Guard stopped the search Friday afternoon local time after searching for 84 hours. An area of 44,000 square kilometers, an area larger than the Netherlands, has been searched.
The authorities have not disclosed the identity of the crew. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the missing people,” said Stephen Burdian of the Coast Guard. “I encourage anyone with information about the passengers to contact us.”
