At least six people have been killed after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the Greek coast. Dozens of others are missing.
The Greek coast guard reported that 57 people have been rescued. The accident happened eight kilometers from the island of Paros. According to survivors, about 80 people were on board the sailing vessel before it capsized.
It is the third migrant boat accident in Greek waters in three days. In total, at least 20 people were killed. One of the boats sank off the island of Folegandros. Dozens of people are also missing there.
People smugglers are increasingly opting for a dangerous route from Turkey to Italy. In this way they try to avoid the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea, where there is heavy patrolling.
