Steve Buscemi, best known for his roles in films like Fargo and TV series Boardwalk Empire, was punched in the face by an unidentified man on a New York City street, his publicist confirmed on Sunday. The 66-year-old actor was then immediately taken to a nearby hospital due to an eye injury.

“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” as stated by his publicist. Fortunately, Buscemi is okay and he greatly appreciates the well wishes from everyone.

The attack, reported by the New York Post, occurred on Wednesday morning in Manhattan. The New York Police Department released a statement on the incident, confirming Buscemi as the unidentified assault victim mentioned in the report. As of now, there have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.

Notably, this is not the first incident involving violence directed towards the cast of Boardwalk Empire. Just last March, Michael Stuhlbarg, Buscemi’s co-star in the series, was one of the victims in a similar incident. Stuhlbarg was hit in the back of the neck with a rock while walking in Manhattan’s Central Park. Fortunately, the attacker was apprehended by Stuhlbarg himself, aided by the park’s security personnel.
