The Board of Trustees of Antidoping Switzerland has a positive view of the integration of the reporting office for grievances in Swiss sport. The path to transform the foundation into “Swiss Sport Integrity” with additional areas of responsibility for the protection of Swiss athletes is open.
The independent Antidoping Switzerland Foundation has functioning and recognized structures that have proven themselves in the Swiss sports system. It is intended to create “Swiss Sport Integrity”, which will now also deal with ethical violations and thus take care of the credibility of Swiss sport. The Board of Trustees of Antidoping Switzerland is open to this project. “We are convinced that we can make an important contribution to the future of Swiss sport with integrity,” says President Ueli Kurmann.
New regulations as a basis
A revised Swiss Olympic Code of Ethics forms the basis for the work of “Swiss Sport Integrity”, on the basis of which sanctions can also be imposed. The developed “Code of Conduct” was presented to all national sports associations and important stakeholders in sport and has to be approved by the delegates in November at the sports parliament. For the specific implementation, the procedural regulations are drawn up in close consultation with technical experts.
Important tasks for Swiss sport
With “Swiss Sport Integrity”, Swiss sport is to have a safe point of contact so that grievances can be discovered and remedied as quickly as possible. “The focus of our work was and will continue to be the right to equitable, fair and doping-free sport as well as the health and well-being of Swiss athletes,” confirms Ueli Kurmann.
Ensuring anti-doping work in Switzerland
The Board of Trustees emphasized that the new, additional tasks should not have a negative impact on anti-doping work; on the contrary, the aim is to use synergies between the two areas wherever possible. Additional financial contributions are planned by the federal government and Swiss Olympic for the new areas of responsibility. This was also assured in talks with the World Anti-Doping Agency. “Now it is important to reinforce the trust that has been built and placed in our foundation and to continue to protect the clean athletes in order to preserve the credibility of the sport,” says Ueli Kurmann.
