Of course, the new stepping of existing processors usually does not represent very significant changes, or any such that we, as customers, could immediately notice. New versions of motherboard BIOSes should not be needed either, after all, this could lead to many problems if someone tries to run a new processor on a previously purchased board that has an even older BIOS version.
–
Players now point out how companies MSI, Asus whose ASRock they are adding new versions of Ryzens 5000 with B2 stepping to their lists of supported processors. In the spring, however, we did not learn why AMD had prepared a new stepping of its processors at all. These can be models that correct some minor errors or optimize the production process.-
It is also worth noting that AMD itself does not use the term stepping. It’s more of a term associated with Intel processors, while AMD talks about revision. But that’s just a detail.
But AMD after all, she had already announced in the springthat it will gradually move to revision B2 in an effort to improve the use of its production and logistics capacities. In other words, it promises more efficient production than in the case of the original B0 revision, and we have also confirmed that the Ryzeny 5000 B2 will not offer any new functions, features or higher performance, and new BIOS versions are not really needed. –
Naturally, we would like to know what exactly AMD promises from B2 and whether we could talk about a percentage increase in the production volume of Ryzen processors. But we don’t even know what it’s all about and whether it’s optimization in the production of 7nm chips or perhaps the final package or something else. Then it is difficult to imagine what and what the new stepping impact can have.
But we do know that the prices of Ryzen 5000 processors, which have been falling more in recent months, have recently jumped again. Such a Ryzen 5 5600X has risen in price by 600 to 800 CZK, the price of the Ryzen 7 5800X has risen slightly, the Ryzen 9 5900X has also risen by several hundred and the 16-core 5950X has risen in price by approximately one thousand crowns in recent weeks. Surprisingly, the Ryzen 7 5700G became significantly cheaper and can be purchased for less than CZK 9,000 with tax, while its weaker brother, the Ryzen 5 5600G, is a bit more expensive. In this case, it may be the impact of the weakening value of the koruna against the dollar, which has strengthened by about 50 pennies in the last month.
But no exchange rate has the effect that the last 7nm Ryzen disappeared from the market, which could still be described as cheap (Ryzen 5 3600) and now we can buy up to Ryzen 5 5600X for about 8 thousand, or about a thousand cheaper APU Ryzen 5 5600G. We can only hope that the offer of cheaper processors will properly beat the Alder Lake generation, but we do not know its prices yet, and if only a few unlocked K and KF models arrive on the market, then it will not change the offer of cheaper x86 processors.
