Board in Cádiz Launches Emotional Wellbeing Program at CEIP El Santiscal After Teacher Arrest

The Education delegation of the Board in Cádiz has launched the Emotional Wellbeing program at the CEIP El Santiscal de Arcos, the center where a teacher was arrested this week for sexual abuse of two underage students. The teacher also already had two investigations open for similar events in Jaén and Prado del Rey. The Tutorial Action and School Coexistence area of ​​the Provincial Technical Team for Educational Guidance has prepared a document to implement in classrooms, with guidelines for action and communication with the students, given the events that have occurred and that have led to the arrest and removal from the job of a teacher at the CEIP El Santical, according to a note from the Board.

Given the logical disturbance of the emotional climate in the educational community at the center, the Educational Development delegation has launched an action strategy, which allows teachers to be provided with help to detect needs for intervention by Emotional Wellbeing professionals, once normal work dynamics are recovered.

To this end, a series of work guidelines and indications have been developed, which mainly affect the naturalness in communication, the recovery of class dynamics and at the same time detection and interventionif applicable, in the students who need help, more specific information or attention from the mental health field.

This work dynamic of those responsible for the Educational Guidance Team of Cádiz is carried out together with the Wellbeing and Mental Health Team for Support and Advice on School Coexistence, in order to implement the tools available to teachers and other school staff. work in the centers, so that psychological needs, if any, can be detected in that natural dynamic, without stopping or hindering the normal development of classes.

The CEIP El Santiscal will develop this intervention through the implementation of this working document from next Monday until the end of the week.

In turn, the counselor who attends this center will remain there full time while the Educational Guidance Team will be working externally to the center, to intervene only if required.

The Educational Development delegate, Isabel Paredes, has highly valued the work carried out by the Emotional Wellbeing technicians, being able to carry out the task of detecting needs for psychological action and carrying them out while the normal functioning of the center’s dynamics is recovered. .

The parents of the school add in the statement sent to the center that “we deeply regret the events that occurred in our center and as families we greatly value that our minors know how to recognize, identify and communicate any sign of abuse towards them, thanks to the work of families and teachers together”.

As indicated in the note, it is precisely along these lines that the educational administration wants to convey to families the guarantee that students are trained through different programs, carried out in agreement with Social Affairs, in methodologies so that minors are able to identify when there is abuse or not.

Thus, Educational Guidance professionals have valued very positively the degree of involvement that the center has had for years in training and informing students, as the first measure of work in prevention of any type of abuse or risks of vulnerability.
