ALMERÍA, Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía has distributed about 20,000 laptops with internet connection among 680 educational centers in the province through the collaboration agreement signed with the central government within the framework of the ‘Educa en digital’ program for support the digital transformation of the education system and improve the digital skills of teaching staff and the application of artificial intelligence to personalized education.
The territorial delegate for Education and Sports in Almería, Antonio Jiménez, together with the head of Planning and Schooling, María Isabel Fernández, have visited the IES ‘Mediterráneo’, in Garrucha, where they have delivered 190 of the so-called educational positions at home, consisting of a laptop or equivalent type device with the necessary basic software incorporated, together with security elements, configured for educational use and an Internet connection.
This endowment is intended to “contribute to alleviating the digital divide in the Andalusian educational system”, as indicated by the Board in a note after the visit in which the Board representatives were accompanied by the Councilor for Education, María Luisa Campoy, the Councilor for Sports, Juan Pedro Molina, and the director of the educational center, José Luis Domínguez.
“The Ministry of Education and Sports has as its main objective to advance towards a teaching model that responds to the challenges of education in the 21st century”, Antonio Jiménez pointed out, who stressed “the need to sustain the momentum in digitization to improve the experience and learning outcomes of students with equal opportunities “.
During his visit to the IES, the delegate insisted that the digital transformation in education “is key not only to reduce the digital divide, but for students to acquire the digital skills necessary to make the most of the use of technologies in its teaching-learning process “.
Jiménez, together with the director of the center and the councilor, has analyzed the educational needs of the town. Along these lines, Campoy thanked the delegate for his presence in the town and expressed his satisfaction because these computers “will make it easier for the students to access and work.”
The Ministry of Education and Sports has launched its Strategy for Educational Digital Transformation, aligned with the new Action Plan for Digital Education of the European Union, whose backbone is the development of digital competence in schools, teachers, students and families.
