Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) revealed that a party affiliated with a terrorist group became a member of a political party (political party).
This was explained by the Head of BNPT Boy Rafli Amar when met at the national dialogue between BNPT, KPU and Bawaslu with political parties at The St. Regis Jakarta, Monday (13/3).
“Affiliated, yes. (The political parties) did not pass the verification. Because yes, we have received input from the start and God willing, those who pass this are in their nature clear. So some of those who did not qualify are what we said today, there are indications,” said Boy.
Boy said there was one political party that had members affiliated with terrorist groups. According to him, these political parties will not be included in the ranks of political participants in the upcoming 2024.
He did not provide a more detailed explanation regarding the identity of the political party.
Furthermore, Boy said it was a concern so that intolerant groups would not form a new party in the future.
“We have to guard against going forward, don’t form a new party later, but it turns out that the board members have a background from intolerant, radical, terrorist groups. The board’s background, yes. Not to mention the platform, so the party’s principle platform cannot be separated from the state ideology of Pancasila. . That’s all we have to take care of,” explained Boy.
Previously, in the discussion program, Boy confirmed that there were indications that terrorists would infiltrate the 2024 elections.
It explains the strategy from bullets to ballots or from bullets to the ballot box which is a strategy for intolerant groups to enter into the democratic system.
“It’s impossible for me to say there aren’t any. But the truth is there is. There has been a change in strategy from bullets to ballot boxes. This change in strategy is a strategy for affiliated networks, including intolerant groups, to be part of a democratic party, to join the our democratic system,” he explained.
Boy claimed that his party was involved in the party verification process.
In addition, the BNPT was also asked for clarification regarding the existence of certain new parties whose candidates for administrators were indicated to be affiliated with terrorist network groups.
