BNPT Reveals JAD Terrorist Group Raised Funds Through Cianjur Earthquake

Jakarta

Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Boy Rafli Amar, explained the progress of handling terrorism cases in the country. He said the terrorist group Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) to raise funds under the pretext of being victims of the Cianjur earthquake.

This was conveyed in a working meeting at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (13/2/2023). The meeting was chaired directly by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Prince Khairul Saleh.

“Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) activities are currently still raising funds by trying to win public sympathy through humanitarian activities, including activities related to the recent earthquake in Cianjur,” said Boy Rafli in his presentation, Monday (13/2/2023) .

Boy said that there was also the Jamaah Islamiyyah (JI) group which was trying to strengthen the organization through working meetings. Meanwhile, the armed criminal group (KKB) terrorized by claiming the terrorist act of burning the Susi Air plane and taking the pilot hostage.

“In addition, on February 7, 2023 the armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua led by Egianus Kogoya claimed responsibility for the terrorist act of burning the Susi Air plane which took hostage a New Zealand pilot named Philip Marthen,” said Boy.

“This incident is the third incident in early 2023 after the shooting of the Trigana Air and Ikairos aircraft,” he said.

BNPT, continued Boy, will coordinate with all levels of law enforcement officials to anticipate this. It seeks to prevent terror attempts in Indonesia.

“We are still trying to maximize a series of prevention efforts in order to minimize potential threats in the country. Meanwhile, coordination is being carried out with the police, including the ranks of the TNI, BIN, elements of the regional government,” added Boy.
