“BNPB Monitors Damage from Earthquake in Tuban, East Java”

National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) monitor the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred in TubanEast Java.

According to Acting Kapusdatinkom BNPB Abdul Muhari, the earthquake was centered on the north coast of Tuban with a magnitude of 6.6 and a depth of 632 km.

“The shaking of this earthquake was felt for a long distance, but it is hoped that it will not cause significant damage (because it is not a shallow earthquake),” said Muhari in an official statement, Friday (14/4).

Currently BNPB continues to coordinate with provincial/regency/city BPBDs to monitor and conduct rapid situation/impact assessments to determine emergency response actions if needed.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 rocked Tuban, East Java. The epicenter was 68 kilometers northwest of Tuban, East Java.

The exact location is at 6.29 South Latitude, 111.92 East Longitude at a depth of 632 kilometers. The earthquake occurred at 16.55 WIB.

“No potential for a tsunami,” wrote BMKG on its Twitter account.

There are no known casualties or damage from the earthquake.
