BNPB Issues Alerts for Flash Floods and Landslides in 16 Provinces

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) issued an early warning to be aware of potential flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in 16 provinces.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Raditya Jati explained the potential impact of floods or flash floods in 16 provinces is the result of the BMKG analysis issued on Thursday (13/5/2021).

Responding to this condition, BNPB appealed to local governments and communities to be vigilant and prepared for potential hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, flash floods and landslides.

“This weather early warning takes effect tomorrow (Friday, May 14, 2021), from 07.00 WIB to the day after tomorrow (Saturday, 15/5/2021), at 07.00 WIB,” said Raditya in his written statement, Thursday (13/5 / 2021).

Raditya also asked the public to be able to access weather early warning information up to the sub-district level with the InfoBMKG application.

There are 16 provinces that have the potential to be affected by heavy rains, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, Jambi Provinces.
