The management of BNNVARA has all former employees of The world goes on (DDDinvited for an interview. A spokesman for the broadcaster confirmed it on Thursday. The broadcaster sent invitations in response to the article de Volkskrant where abuses were raised in the program.
Former employees of DDD can discuss jointly or individually with management. “Just what people need,” the spokesman said. In fifteen years, more than three hundred people have worked for the program.
Talk show and presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was discredited by an article that de Volkskrant released on Friday evening. In it, former employees spoke about Van Nieuwkerk’s “cross-border” working method and the behind-the-scenes atmosphere. Dozens of people fell ill due to working conditions. Van Nieuwkerk has since stopped working with BNNVARA.
The NPO has announced a major investigation into behind-the-scenes misconduct DDD. Frans Klein, director of video at the NPO, was BNNVARA’s director of media at the time and heavily involved with the programme. He temporarily resigned from his post pending the outcome of the investigation.
