PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk alias BNI finally officially take over ownership or acquisition of PT Bank Majora since Wednesday (18/5).
This refers to the state-owned bank’s statement to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in an information disclosure through Letter Number KMP/7/2158 dated 19 May 2022.
“The company has completed the takeover of PT Bank Mayora,” said BNI Corporate Secretary Mucharom in the IDX information disclosure, Thursday (19/5).
The bank with the 46 logo ensures that the acquisition will have a positive impact on the company’s performance going forward. This is because this acquisition was carried out in order to support the company’s transformation into an integrated digital bank.
Previously, BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar said the company would create a digital bank in line with current trends in the national banking industry.
The target is that BNI’s digital bank can serve the community and MSMEs in the country who are now trapped in loans online (pinjol).
“We have a vision so that this digital bank can also focus on MSMEs, especially traditional MSMEs, which currently many may be stuck with loans, loans, etc. online something like that,” Royke said.
Even so, Royke has not given a projection of how many customers the bank can attract from this circle. Likewise with the loan market in question, whether it comes from legal or illegal lending.
“But we will try to help this, so that it helps MSMEs that have the potential to grow in the future because the growth engine is still from the MSME segment,” he explained.
Royke explained that BNI digital bank in the future can work on this group because it is hoped that the payment services and credit facilities provided can be cheaper than conventional banks. This hope arises because digital banks use technology that can enable efficiency.
“We want to have a high-tech digital bank so that cost can be relatively low, interest rates can also be relatively suppressed. It will reach many targets market which we have not tapped so far,” he concluded.
