Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) disbursed IDR 5.3 trillion in Sustainability Linked Loans (SLL) throughout 2022. SLL is intended to improve the sustainable business aspects of its debtors.
“Throughout 2022 BNI has distributed SLL of USD 355 million or the equivalent of Rp. 5.3 trillion which has been distributed to top-tier debtors in priority industrial sectors, such as fast-moving consumer goods and manufacturing,” said Director of Risk Management at BNI, David Pirzada, Tuesday, (24/1/2023).
This step will continue to be strengthened by developing its portfolio in green financing. BNI sees that the renewable energy category is a sector with great potential.
Bearing in mind, financing for renewable energy is in line with the Indonesian government’s policy to reduce PLTU operations and also increase the energy mix from new, renewable energy.
Opportunities for the development of green banking are also supported by the potential development of electric vehicles, environmentally sound buildings, and environmentally sound transportation infrastructure, such as green tolls.
In addition to SLL distribution, BNI also reported its financing achievements in the Sustainable Business Activities Category (KKUB) at BNI’s 2022 Full Year Public Expose.
This KKUB reached IDR 182.9 trillion or the equivalent of 28.5% of BNI’s total loan portfolio. This financing is generally given to community social economic development through small segment financing, environmentally friendly business management and biological natural resources, new and renewable energy, financing for pollution prevention, and other Sustainable Portfolios.
