Krefeld / Mönchengladbach / Willich. “The fact that our work is recommended for seriously ill people and their relatives in this network is a completely different form of recognition, but also very important”: Alexander Henes, head of the hospice at Blumenplatz, is pleased about a special participation: the chapter “Bunter Mönchengladbach Garden ”of the BNI (Business Network International) has accepted the Krefeld hospice as a sponsoring member.
This means that the chapter members transfer the concept of winning new jobs for their company through recommendations to social work: They recommend hospice work and support this work with donations.
The background: Andreas Nagel, acting Chapter Director of the “Bunten Garten” and himself a real estate agent in Willich, got to know Alexander Henes through a classified eBay ad and found out about hospice work – in conversations and during a visit to the hospice. “For me it was the first time that I had contact with hospice work, and I was very pleasantly surprised by what I saw and experienced. Because of the Corona restrictions, I was only able to visit a small part and the garden and was impressed: It is extremely respectful and designed according to the needs of the guests, “says Andreas Nagel, describing his first impression. He had conveyed this to his 28 chapter colleagues and so the decision was made in the group to support the hospice work via the BNI network.
Business Network International is represented as an organization in 74 countries. In the chapters (local or regional groups), entrepreneurs from a wide variety of areas meet to exchange experiences and recommendations – usually once a week for breakfast, although this currently depends on the applicable guidelines for combating the corona pandemic and, if necessary, through a virtual meeting is replaced. A chapter only accepts one member per subject area. The “strategic recommendation marketing” supports the members in the acquisition of new customers. The chapter in Mönchengladbach is in the development phase: It was founded on September 1st of this year, the members come from the greater Mönchengladbach area.

background
The hospice at Blumenplatz was opened in 2004. “Human dignity is inviolable – to the end!” – that is the motto of all full-time and voluntary employees of the facility for people in their last phase of life. The guests are people of all ages who have a life-limiting illness and need palliative care in the last stage. The hospice can accommodate 13 guests.
It is important to the team that the guests spend their time in the hospice as happily and peacefully as possible. This includes palliative care and cooperation with palliative medicine specialists, but also additional offers such as music therapy, aroma or art therapy …
The financing concept of the hospice work provides that the hospices receive 95% of the care rate from the health and nursing insurance funds, 5% as well as all costs for additional offers and therapies must be financed through donations from “civic engagement”.
The voluntary helpers accompany the guests of the hospice in the building, but are also active in outpatient care for seriously ill people at home or in retirement homes. The outpatient terminal care will be expanded in the future with more volunteers and a further development of the concept.
