Although the game between Kiryat Shmona and Bnei Yehuda at Bloomfield Stadium is a game of the season in the National League, before the game we were reminded of the things that are really important these days in Israel. The Orangemen held a chilling ceremony for the late Ben Rubinstein, who fell in battle on October 7.
In the Bnei Yehuda message it was written: “Ben Rubinstein – the Bnei Yehuda football club, for all its people, salute you. Ben fell in battle on Saturday 10/7/23. He was 20 years old, a die-hard sports fan, until he was drafted into the army he served as a soccer referee in the soccer association, and a combat and survival training fighter. When he was drafted into the IDF, he joined an elite unit, and Visher was one of the most prominent.
It was also written: “Ben was a Lot’r fighter, he came to Sderot with his team and for long hours fought in a street that was full of terrorists, but also full of frightened families who were locked in their homes. In one of the houses, members of the Ackerman-Rimoni family, die-hard fans of the team, and a family with many children hid in the dimension for many hours. Ben fought with great bravery and courage and saved the lives of the team’s fans when the terrorists were already right next to the dimension window in their home.”
“Unfortunately, Rabbi Ben fell in the battle in the courtyard of their home, today the members of the Ackerman-Rimoni family and members of Ben’s family are here with us, together with the owner of the club, Eliran Oved. Ben is a hero who is full of the values of loving the country and helping others, thank you for everything and that thanks to you we are here now. May his memory be blessed”, it was also written.
