BNB: Direct investments in Bulgaria fell by 18% in the first half of the year – 2024-09-28 04:21:27

/ world today news/ Direct investments in our country for the period January-June 2016 fell by 179.5 million euros, or 18.7% compared to the same period last year. This is shown by the BNB’s preliminary data.

From January to June, investments in our country amounted to 778.4 million euros, while in June their amount was 182.1 million euros. The first three of the largest foreign investors in our country include the Netherlands /189.7 million euros/, Luxembourg /113.6 million euros/ and the United Kingdom /110.8 million euros/.

BNB data show that fewer and fewer foreigners are buying real estate in our country. In the first six months of 2016, they bought properties worth 26.1 million euros. Investors from Norway have the largest share with 4.7 million euros, or 18.2% share, followed by Russia and Great Britain with 3.9 million euros each, or 14.9% of the total for the period.

The reinvested profit, which shows the share of foreign investors in the company’s current profit or loss, also decreased by 72 million euros. For the first half of this year, it amounted to 376.4 million euros compared to 448.8 million euros for the same period last year.
