BMW Group engineers and test drivers traveled to Sweden with the new BMW i7 electric sedan to find out how the drive and chassis systems work. At the same time, driving dynamics is being tested in the city of Arjeplong.

BMW promises to ensure that, even in severe frost tests just a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle, the components of the chassis, steering and brake systems work together at the level of a sports car, while maintaining adequate driving comfort.

Prototype testing takes place on snowy roads, dirt roads, but also on frozen lakes, where the coefficient of friction is low and the DSC stabilization system can be tested well. The suspension settings of the wheels, shock absorbers and other elements for ideal driving modes are also well configured here.

With the new i7 electric limousine, BMW continues to make a smooth transition to electromobility. It is not yet clear what exact technical parameters the car will have, but BMW is talking about great progress in this model. Due to the completion of tests, the car could be introduced sometime during 2022.

According to behind-the-scenes information, the electric car should arrive as an alternative to the classic 7 series of the new generation, which will continue to rely on combustion and hybrid units. Similar to the recently introduced pair – the 4 Series Gran Coupé and the i4 electric car.
