BMW has presented its new generation of the 5 Series Saloon, which will have a 100% electric option and several technological innovations. The new sedan is longer, exceeding five meters in length compared to 4.96 meters in the previous generation, as well as almost two in width (1.9 meters) and 1.5 in height.

The new 5 Series will have different finishes, including two more sporty with the M Sport and M Sport pro packages. The top-of-the-range model will be the electric BMW i5 M60 xDrive, which combines a 442 kilowatt (KW) engine, about 600 horsepower (CV), with the distinctive features of the M range as well as specific design features. This model will accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) in 3.8 seconds, thanks to engine torque of up to 820 Nm. Its top speed will be electrically limited to 230 km/h. In addition, it will have a high-voltage battery located far in the underbody, which will provide a usable energy of 81.2 kWh.
The combined charging unit (CCU) of the BMW i5 enables charging in alternating current with a power of up to 11 kW as standard for the BMW i5 eDrive 40 and up to 22 kW for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive. The high-voltage battery can be charged with direct current with a power of up to 205 kW.
