BMW has already taken a position in “super hatchbacks” with the first “one-of-a-kind” series with a cross-engine drive concept and primarily front-wheel drive. The M135i, with all-wheel drive and 225 kilowatt, 306 horsepower, competes with other hatchbacks, which push the performance of compacts to unprecedented heights.

However, with sharp tools for BMW enthusiasts, it will also drop a step lower. The competition for such a Ford Focus ST or VW Golf GTI will be the BMW 128ti. It will drive the front wheels, but through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen mechanical self-locking differential.
–
As with the aforementioned top variant, there will be a two-liter under the hood, but this time tuned to 195 kW (265 hp). But it is still a car that accelerates from zero to one hundred km / h in 6.1 seconds.
–
But it doesn’t just stay with the power, the 128 promises a 10mm reduced sports chassis with a strengthened brake system. Stiffer bearings and stabilizers inherit from a more powerful variant with all-wheel drive. However, he does not have it, so he saves 80 kilograms.

More aggressive bumpers compared to the current version with the M package show the first photos, we will wait for the full revelation. We are curious about first driving impressions, because BMW has never built a car of this type before.
